Sandisk fills Sansa Fuze with more features than iPod nano at a … - Dallas Morning News

The Sansa Fuze from Sandisk is a top-notch music and video player, and it’s all Apple’s fault. You see, Apple has had a string of hits with its hugely popular iPod line of music and video players, and other manufacturers have lined up to try to get their own slice of that pie. It’s taken several years, but I daresay the Sansa Fuze is a better choice than Apple’s iPod nano. Both can play audio and video files and get about 24 hours of audio playback and five hours of video play from their batteries. And probably the most important difference – the Fuze has a slot for a microSD card to add storage. Video formats are limited to MP4 and JPEG, and all video must be converted through the Sandisk’s provided software, which isn’t a big deal, but it’s worth mentioning. Read more

SanDisk Releases Sansa Fuze MP3 Player - About - News & Issues

SanDisk is getting ready to bring to retail in April a new MP3 player to compete against the Apple iPod line up. This player is called the Sansa Fuze and it will price between $80 and $130, depending upon the amount of storage space built-in. The SanDisk Sansa Fuze is not SanDisk’s first MP3 player - the company is, in fact, one of Apple’s main competitors. It can hold, depending upon the player’s memory, 500 songs (2 GB), 1,000 songs (4 GB) or 2,000 songs (8 GB). It can play MP3/WMA audio files, MPEG-4 video files and also display JPEG photos. Memory can be expanded via microSD memory cards and the Fuze’s internal rechargeable battery will get you upwards of 24 hours of audio or five hours of video playback between charges. Read more

Pocket Media Player Aims to Leave Cash in Your Pocket - New York Times

SanDisk , which holds that slot, is aiming its new Sansa Fuze player squarely at the iPod Nano . Like the Nano, the Fuze’s batteries are not replaceable, and the Fuze comes in five colors, compared with Nano’s six, though the Fuze has a deep blue choice that iPod lacks. While the iTunes service does not work with the Fuze, the device will download music from other sites like Rhapsody, Napster , Urge and Yahoo Music. SanDisk says the Fuze will play up to 24 hours on a single charge, but its main advantage over the Nano may be its slot for a microSD flash memory card that can add as much as 8 gigabytes of storage.
